When and how did the inspiration and idea of joining civil service come in your mind?

M a graduate from maulana azad college in bio sciences(gen) securing 1st class

What factors did you consider before selecting your optionals? What were they?

My aptitude towards the subjects were the clinching factors for me.......
My optionals were urdu and history.

How did you sustain the study-momentum throughout the year?

I used to study in a pre defined routine....i use to chalk out a plan for the time available to me and studied according to my routine...

How many hours did you study per day? How many months did it take you to complete the core syllabus of Compulsory and optional subjects?

There were no fixed hours for me......i studied a particular subject till i managed to get grasp over it.

Did u use internet, was it effective?

I hardly used net wen i was appearing for civil services but no doubt it a very useful tool for an aspirant nowadays.

The Telegraph and The Hindu....in magazine i prefered frontline, wizard and PD.

No....i never attended any commercial coaching classes

What about Interview in WBCS? Was the board cordial? What should be a proper preparation?

My interview was pretty good. The board members were very good and the enviroment was quite cordial. For a successful interview a candidate must have a good grasp over his optional and current affairs.

Plz suggest some good books for pre, comp, optional.

For prelims any good book of general studies will do....for serious preparation tata mcgraw hill is pretty much enough.

What should be the strategy for cracking this exam?What message you want to give to all aspirants?

My message to all the aspirants will be....please giv your all half measure wont do....be serious about your target and above all never lose hope.
