Overall ananlysis of questions of WBCS Main 2015 (Compulsory papers):-

As far as our opinion is concerned, the questions in English & Bengali (or other languages)
were of very good standard. It was good as well as bad that essays & grammar did not come. But
questions were from very relevant topics and some one who STUDIES newspaper regularly can attend
the papers very well.Letter writing, composition ,reports , all were from burning topics and
it was as expected. So one need to go through the news paper and keep relevant data handy.

A new section added was "Reading Comprehension" and it was welcome step.

As usual, the precis or translations were of very good standard and one need to have a good knowledge to
write them properly.

What we can suggest is that , one should read good writings (compositions by great writers like Tagore & others)
so that you can get a role model, you can understand how to write a good matter/composition.
And what is needed is PRACTICE of writing and a good vocabulary, both in English and Bengali (or other language).

SO NO MAJOR CHANGE OF PATTERN , ONLY EMPHASISE ON CURRENT AFFAIRS AND GOOD WRITING ALONG WITH VOCABULARY.

As far as rest of the papers are concerned, there is a overall perception that the questions were tough
and of UPSC standard.

Sorry dear, we beg to differ. Yes, questions came directly from books, that too of school standard, and yes
majority were direct questions. But also there were a good percentage of questions which were
of UPSC PATTERN not UPSC STANDARD.In UPSC questions were asked from more depth but in WBCS questions were
of the same pattern, like say, 3 statements were given and asked which is correct answer, 1 or 1 & 2 or 1,2 or 3 ...like this.
But the statements given were direct from books. Yes you need to study more and remember lot more things and
you need to study a little bit vastly, as because there were 200 questions in each paper.

In arithmatics and reasoning too, there were very easy questions those came from school level.

Actually, we students have a bad habit of ignoring basic books, easily available books and go for
the tougher ones assuming that they are better. But please understand, people from all over WB appear
in this exam , so questions have to be from the books which were easily available everywhere, not
from and specialised books. This basic books will fetch 55/60% marks and it is good enough score to
crack Gr A/B.

SO, ONE NEED TO WORK HARDER AND COVER VAST AREA FROM THE BOOKS ACCORDING TO IMPORTANCE. DON'T WASTE TIME READING
UNNECESSARY THINGS.

Also, we must understand that cracking this exam is not a cakewalk and should not be so.So, an aspirant
must have good idea about things surrounding him. It is not an exam where you mug up things and vomit
there at exam hall. You must have an aptitude for application of your knowledge.

Individual analysis of papers will follow and we will upload answer keys very soon.

As far as OPTIONAL papers are concerned, it was mostly suggestive as usual but lengthy in some cases.
But be very careful in choosing optional papers because all optionals do not suit everyone though
it may be largely "SCORING".
