HOW TO PREAPRE
Focus Areas:
The questions that have been asked in the WBCS Exam from Logical Reasoning section are related to the following topics:
• Coding Decoding
• Seating Arrangement
• Syllogism: Syllogism includes few Statements that start with “all”, “none”, “some” and are followed by Conclusions out of which the correct ones have to be selected
• Blood Relations
• Series Completion: These can include numbers, letters or images.
• Logical Connectives: Statements include “Only, if”, “if, then” etc
• Venn diagrams
The area of Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability is new for the candidates and its pattern in the exam is not very clear. But a closer look at the question papers of past three years helps us to understand the trend to a considerable extent.
Strategy:
• A large number of questions are being asked from logical reasoning section which means that the candidates must prepare it very well for the WBCS Exam.
• Time Management is the most important ingredient for this section. Speed and accuracy are required simultaneously for scoring well in this section.
• Practise as many questions as possible from sample papers and text books. The sample papers can be accessed through Jagranjosh also.
• Many textbooks are available in the market out of which the candidate can select any one like RS Aggarwal, Arihant, Tata Mc Graw Hill etc and practice as many questions as possible from that book.
Tips to score high in Maths papers-
- Practice
- Avoid silly mistakes
Avoid silly mistakes like ignoring a ‘+’ or ‘-’ sign, copying numbers wrong, or making simple addition/subtraction mistakes. These can be very costly. Practice till you are perfect.
- Go through a problem carefully. Then work out the answer step-by-step.
- Present your solutions clearly in steps, line-by-line.
- Always understand the topic. Never try and learn the process by heart. It doesn’t work in mathematics.
- Always understand the question correctly before venturing to work out the solution. Once you start writing the answer and it is incorrect, you lose precious space in the question answer booklet. And later, even if you figure out you have to rework your answer; you might not be able to because of a space crunch.
- Always prepare and keep a formula sheet handy with you.
- Always solve mathematical problems with a relaxed mind.
