    1.  What is amoebiasis ?   Describe the morphology of three phases in the life cycle of Entamoeba histolytica.  How many metacystic trophozods are developed from a cyst of E.histolytica.     3+12+5

     

    2.   Define torsion.  Mention the mechanism involved in the process of torsion.  Describe the torsion that is manifesed in the nervous system of Mollusca.

     

    3.  What is retrogressive metamorphosis? Explain the phenomenon in the life history of an ascidia. State its significance.      5+12+3

     

    4.  What is accessory respiration ?   Describe the structure and functions of the accessory respiratory organs of four fishes.  What are the adaptive and evolutionary significance of the accessory respiratory organ.      4+12+4

     

    5.  Write short notes on any four of the following :      5×4

    (a)  Retia mirabilia

    (b)  Echolocation in Chiroptera

    (c)  Foramen Panizza

    (d)  Parthenogenesis

    (e)  Alternation of generations

    (f)  Aerodynamics.

    6.   How does a sanctuary differ from a National Park ?  Describe some important wild life sanctuaties and National Parks with their characteristic animal fauna. Name two endangered species of mammal and two threatened species of fish.    4+12+4

     

    7.  What is composite fish culture ?  Describe the principle and different steps involved in the composite culture of carps.   Comment on the production and carrying capacity of the pond.     3+3+10+4

    4. What is placenta ? Mention the types of placenta. Describe with suitable diagram the formation of placenta of rabbit. State the function of placenta. 2+4+10+4-20

    (i) Acrosome reaction,

    (ii) Organizer concept,

    (iii) Extra embryonic membrene.

    (iv) Oestrous cycle,

    (v) Phenetic and cladistic classification

    (vi) Law of priority.

    6. Describe how nerve impulse is propagated along a nerve fibre. What is saltatory conduction ? Name the instrument by which nerve impulse can be measured. What is Spike potential ? Describe the mechanism of synaptic transmission.

    7. What is Hamburger phenomenon ? Briefly explain that phenomenon which involved in CO2 transport What is sarcomere ? Illustrate the mechanism of muscle contraction. 2+10+ 2+6=20
