WBCS Mains Examination , How to prepare English Language Compulsory Paper?

Q1)ইংরেজি কম্পালসরি পেপারের প্রস্তুতি কিভাবে নিতে হবে?
ANSWER)এই পেপারটিতে ভই পাওয়ার কোন দরকার নেই।এই পেপারে ৫ রকম প্রশ্ন থাকে যেগুলো হোলো –
১)লেটার রাইটিং
২)রিপোর্ট রাইটিং
৩)প্রেসিস রাইটিং
৪)Translation – বাংলা থেকে ইংরাজি
২০-৫০ টা করে practice করতে হবে।গ্রামার টা ভালো করে করতে হবে, নিউজ পেপারটা ভালো করে পরতে হবে, এবং এগুলো করতে করতেই ইংরাজি পেপারটা ভালো হয়ে যাবে।অহেতুক ভয় পাওয়ার দরকার নেই।৪০০ নাম্বারের পেপারে যদি ২০০-২২০ score করা যায়ে, তাহলেই হবে।বার বার practice করতে হবে এবং খুব ভালো করে revision দিতে হবে।Revision খুবই জরুরি।
Preparing for the WBCS Compulsory Paper II-
- The questions asked are of matriculation or equivalent standards.
- You should prepare for the language paper without compromising on your core subjects preparation as you only need to clear it.
- Choose your language wisely. It is recommended that you select the language that you learnt at school and have some grip over.
- CBSE school level books (Std. X) will be sufficient for this paper. Revise your school language and basic grammar lessons. Go through the WBCS syllabus.
- Apart from your regular newspaper, read a newspaper in the language that you have opted for at least 15 minutes every day. This will familiarise you with the subtleties of the language. It will also give you the modern method of writing in the language.
- Write and practice. If you have lost touch writing in the regional language after your schooling, writing practice is a must. You should be at ease writing and also must not forget common spellings and punctuation.
- Practicing question papers also improves your speed.
- Practice translations.
- Work on your handwriting if you think it is not neat. Handwriting should be legible.
Tips for writing the WBCS Compulsory Paper II-
- Read the question paper first thoroughly.
- Attempt the questions you are most sure of. .
- In your essay, write in simple but effective language. Attempt the essay question last with at least 40 minutes to spare. Once you are done with the other sections, you will have enough ‘flow’ to write your essay. Also, you should not waste time writing an elaborate essay in the beginning.
- Avoid grammatical and spelling mistakes.
- Follow this rule when you do the translation question:
- If you are more comfortable in English than in the vernacular language, do the Indian language to English translation first. You will find this easier than the English to Indian language.
- If you are well-versed in the Indian language more compared to English, do the English to Indian language translation first.
