TABLE TENNIS

(i) Know about the rules and regulations, terminologies e.g. types of grips, shots (backhand, forehand, slice, jab, topspin, etc.) associated with it.

(ii) Know about prominent nations which are dominating this game. India’s position in the world/amongst Asian nations. Has India won any medals at the international level?

(iii) Know about prominent Indian and international players in this game.

(iv) What is the reason for Chinese dominance of this game? Can and should India adopt a similar model? Has India’s performance, over the years shown improvement or remained stagnant?


BADMINTON

(i) What basic traits, do you think, a good Badminton players should possess? viz. Mental alertness, agility, flexibility, control, power, etc.

(ii) Know about terminologies like Alley, Back Alley, Backcourt, Baseline, Bird or birdie , Carry, Center Line, Clear, Court, Drive, etc. (check out this link )

(iii) Know about India’s and Indians’ performance in International arena viz. that of Saina Nehwal, Pullela Gopichand, Prakash Padukone etc.

(iv) Which countries have dominated International Badminton? Know about their current prominent players.

(v) Which are the important international tournaments? Are any important tournaments held in India?

(vi) How to popularize the game in India? What does India need to do to improve its performance in International arena?

LAWN TENNIS

(i) Know about fundamental traits required, rules, regulations, prominent sporting events(viz. the four grand slams) ATP events held in India.

(ii) Know about legends and important players associated with this game and have a brief idea about their achievements(Rod Laver, Don Budge, Maureen Connolly, Bjom Borg, John McEnroe, Martina Navaratilova, Steffi Graf, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, etc.) and Indian players(like Amritrajs, Krishnans, Paes, Bhupati, Sania Mirza, etc.)

(iii) Tennis in India has shown resurgence, popularity, increased sponsorship and corporate interest in recent years. What’s the reason for it?

(iv) What should be done to improve India’s performance at International level, specially in Davis Cup? Should Government play a role in it? Or should it be left to the Tennis Associations, Corporates and sports houses to fend for themselves, while the Government’s limited sporting resources should be conserved for other games and sports?

(v) When can an Indian player be expected to win a Singles Grand Slam event?
