19 Passengers Die in Sleeper Bus Accident in Andhra Pradesh

• A Hyderabad-Bengaluru sleeper coach bus, owned by V. Kaveri Travels, crashed with a motorcycle near Chinna Tekur village in Andhra Pradesh.

• The bus, carrying 44 passengers, including four children, and two drivers, was carrying 44 passengers.

• The bus hit and dragged a motorcycle, generating sparks that ignited the fuel tank.

• The bus was registered in Daman and Diu, and held permits from Odisha.

• The bus management was reportedly found to have flouted rules by converting a bus with seats into a sleeper coach.

• The cause of the fire is believed to be an oncoming motorcycle ramming the bus, causing the motorcycle to fall into the air and die instantly.

• The state government announced ₹5 lakh ex gratia to the families of the deceased and ₹2 lakh for the injured.
