Swachh Bharat Mission to Identify 2 Lakh Cleanliness Spots
• The Centre plans to identify two lakh difficult and dirty spots across India for a time-bound, result-oriented transformation.
• These spots, called Cleanliness Target Units, will be mapped through a portal.
• The campaign includes mega cleanliness drives at various sites like tourist locations, public buildings, commercial areas, community toilets, water bodies, zoos, and sanctuaries.
• Central Public Sector Units, industry partners, and non-governmental organizations are encouraged to adopt these Cleanliness Target Units.
• The campaign is conducted from September 17 to October 2.
• The campaign aims to provide better working conditions for cleaners.
• The campaign was launched on October 2, 2014, and all Central Ministries and States are planning citizen engagement activities.
