    8 Assam tribe products, including traditional meals, received GI tags.

    • The Bodo Traditional Brewers Association filed for GI tags for three variants of rice beer: ‘Bodo Jou Gwran’, ‘Maibra Jou Bidwi’, and ‘Bodo Jou Gishi’.
    • The GI filing states that Bodoland has a tradition of consuming rice beer, believed to originate from Lord Shiva, and is taken as a medicine.
    • The Association of Traditional Food Products successfully obtained four GI tags: ‘Bodo Napham’, ‘Bodo Ondla’, ‘Bodo Gwkha’, ‘Bodo Narzi’, and ‘Bodo Aronai’.
    • The GI tags are a testament to the rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids, vitamins, and essential minerals in these products.
