    Han Kang Wins 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature

    • South Korean writer Han Kang has been awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature by the Swedish Academy.

    • Kang’s work, which includes stories about women battling patriarchy, violence, grief, and historical injustices, has been translated into English and won several awards.
    • Her breakthrough novel, The Vegetarian, was published in Korean in 2007 and translated into English by Deborah Smith in 2015.
    • Kang’s other books, including Human Acts, The White Book, and Greek Lessons, have also been translated into English.
    • The academy praised Kang’s unique awareness of the connections between body and soul, the living and the dead, and her innovative style in contemporary prose.
