    ‘Global South faces food, fuel crises due to conflicts’

    • The G-20 summit, attended by US President Joe Biden, Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, focused on “Social inclusion and the fight against hunger and poverty.”
    • Modi highlighted India’s initiatives to combat hunger and poverty, including removing 250 million people from poverty in the last decade and distributing free food grains to 800 million people.
    • He also highlighted India’s efforts to strengthen food security in Africa and elsewhere, including providing free food grains, health insurance, and linking women micro-entrepreneurs to banks.
    • Modi also announced the development of over 2,000 climate-resilient crop varieties and the ‘Digital Agriculture Mission’.
