Megalithic Carvings Found in Kerala’s Kanhirapoil

    • 24 pairs of prehistoric footprints and a human figure found in Kanhirapoil, Madikkai grama panchayat, Kerala.

    • Experts believe these carvings date back to the Megalithic period.

    • Footprints range from six to 10 inches, suggesting representations of both children and adults.

    • A human figure is intricately etched at the end of the footprints, surrounded by four circular pits.

    • Footprints are believed to represent souls of dead people, pointing towards the west.

    • Similarities to prehistoric rock art found in Avalakki Pera in Udupi district in Karnataka.

    • Discovery aligns with earlier findings in north Kerala, including temple decorations, tiger statues, human figures, bull figures, and Edakkal Caves carvings.

    • The discovery reinforces the historical significance of the area and encourages further exploration into the region’s ancient past.
