    • AI has been used in diagnosing tuberculosis in six districts in Tamil Nadu, with over 56,000 people screened using this tool in the last two years.

    • AI has potential to play a significant role in the health sector, including screening refractive eye errors among children and detecting pregnancy-induced hypertension.

    • B. Ravindran, head of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, urged governments to build adequate digital infrastructure before AI can have an impact.

    • He warned that pushing the current state of AI models into governance could institutionalize models and ignore the cultural map.

    • India has taken the lead in getting a global consensus on AI in governance, but caution is needed to avoid becoming a digital slave.

    • Hasit Trivedi, president of Chief Digital and AI Officer, Firstsource, emphasized the need for data protection, usage, and localization in AI.

    • S. Thamaraiselvan, Assistant Vice-President, Infosec Governance, Hexaware, suggested that India should explore how to become a generator of AI technologies rather than consuming it.
