    “Jobs at Your Doorsteps” Study on Skill Education in India

    • The World Bank’s “Jobs at Your Doorsteps” study reveals large opportunities for school-based skilling in service sector jobs and agriculture income enhancement.

    • The study found 14 sectors and trades can cater to majority of high demand jobs for school to work.

    • Key questions include how skill education can be scaled and strengthened, and which skills should be offered considering local economic needs.

    • Agriculture sector found more opportunities across jobs and income enhancement in own farms.

    • The mining sector was not a significant employer from school-to-work perspective due to hazardous environment and high demand of unskilled labour.

    • Secondary sectors, including manufacturing and large industries, provided medium level opportunities after skilled schooling.

    • Tertiary sectors, including retail, IT, and banking, found large opportunities requiring exposure to multi-skill knowledge.
