NGT orders CPCB to create pan-India silica mining guidelines

• The NGT has directed the CPCB to prepare detailed guidelines for these activities within three months.

• The court was hearing a petition on illegal silica sand mining in Uttar Pradesh.

• The court has ordered the State of Uttar Pradesh and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board to provide specialized healthcare facilities in areas where mining lease holders operate silica sand mines.

• The court has also imposed penalties on private companies engaged in mining-related activities.
