Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) Inauguration
• West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urges foreign filmmakers to make their films in Bengal and collaborate with local talent.
• Banerjee urged filmmakers to showcase the high talent in Bengal and showcase the beauty and diversity of the region in their films.
• The festival, which opened with the screening of the 1966 Bengali classic Galpo Holeo Satti by Tanpan Sinha, will feature 175 films from 29 countries between December 5 and December 11.
• The festival also features screenings of 21 films from France, KIFF’s focus country this year.
• The inaugural ceremony featured celebrities like Sourav Ganguly, Sabitri Chatterjee, Madhabi Mukherjee, Ranjit Mullick, Shatrughan Sinha, Moon Moon Sen, and Sabyasachi Chakraborty.
