Manipur’s Kuki-majority Kangpokpi District Protests
• Protests began after Central forces took possession of community bunkers in Saibol village.
• Protesters attempted to seal the Deputy Commissioner’s office and storm the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
• Protests led to stone pelting, injuries, and damage to vehicles.
• The Kuki-Zo Council imposed an economic blockade in all Kuki-Zo districts of the State from midnight on Thursday till 2 a.m. on Saturday.
• The blockade followed a “total shutdown” in the Kuki-Zo-dominated Kangpokpi district called by the Committee on Tribal Unity on Friday.
