V. Narayanan Appointed as New Space Secretary

• Dr. V. Narayanan, Director of Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), will become the new Chair of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

• He will take over from S. Somanath on January 14.

• Dr. Narayanan, a rocket and spacecraft propulsion expert, joined ISRO in 1984 and has worked in various capacities.

• He has contributed significantly to ISRO’s geosynchronous launch vehicles, including GSLV Mk-II & GSLV Mk-III.

• He has also contributed to the study of the reasons for hardlanding of Chandrayaan-2 landership.
