• The committee’s mandate is to study the current situation in Maharashtra, recommend remedial measures, examine legal aspects, and study laws in other states.
• The committee consists of seven members from Home, Law and Justice, Social Justice, and Women and Child Development departments.
• The government will review the issue and its prevalence once its report is submitted.
