Telangana Cabinet approves Caste Survey.
• Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stated that official information on weaker sections was unavailable, hindering reservation for Backward Classes (BCs).
• The survey covered 3,54,75,554 people, with Backward Classes forming 56.33% of the population.
• Launched on November 6, 2024, the survey assessed socio, caste, economic, education, and political status of households across the state.
• Enumerators visited door-to-door with forms containing 57 questions, covering 1,12,15,134 families in 50 days, including 66,99,602 rural families.
• The report was introduced one year after the State Cabinet approved the survey on February 4, 2024.
