    • The Supreme Court has protected YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia from arrest for controversial remarks during the show India Got Latent.

    • The court ordered no new criminal case to be registered against Allahbadia based on his remarks.

    • Allahbadia is allowed to approach the police in Thane, Maharashtra, for personal protection in case of any threat.

    • The court barred Allahbadia from participating in shows and directed him to submit his passport at the Thane police station.

    • Allahbadia had approached the Supreme Court for protection from arrest and challenged multiple first information reports (FIRs) as an attempt to harass and rob him of his personal liberty.

    • Justice Kant slammed the “perversity” of Allahbadia’s language, stating it would shame “parents, brothers, sisters, and the entire society”.

    • The court questioned the level of obscenity of Allahbadia’s comments, citing the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Apoorva Arora case.

    • The current FIRs charge Allahbadia with unrelated offences, including spreading enmity between two groups and injuring religious beliefs.

    • Counsel argued that the registration of multiple FIRs was an abuse of the process of law.
