    • West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu’s face-off with Students’ Federation of India (SFI) at Jadavpur University sparked a political row.
    • SFI rallies across the state demanded the resignation and arrest of the Minister.
    • Protests by the SFI came after two students demanding elections on campus were injured during the Minister’s convoy leaving the university.
    • The SFI called for a student strike across all universities on Monday, marking the start of the Class 12 examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
    • Kolkata Police filed seven FIRs and arrested an alumnus for alleged vandalism.
    • SFI State secretary Debanjan Dey claimed the Education Minister was responsible for the incident.
    • SFI supporters took out processions in Kolkata, Bardhaman town, and Dinhata in Coochbehar district.
    • Trinamool Congress leaders described student behavior as “vandalism.” State Minister Firhad Hakim emphasized that students should not block Ministers’ entry or exit at public places.
