The Raisina Dialogue’s agenda?
• The 10th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will focus on U.S. President Donald Trump’s foreign policy shifts.
• New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon will deliver the keynote address, with the theme “Kalachakra.”
• U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Special Assistant to U.S. President Trump and National Security Council official Ricky Gill, and Senior Counsellor to U.S. President Trump, James Carafano, will also speak.
• A Quad panel with senior Navy leadership from India, Australia, Japan, and the U.S. is expected to be held.
• The dialogue follows weeks of dramatic developments in the Russia-Ukraine war, including the showdown between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zeleniskyy in Washington.
• Eleven of the 20 Foreign and other Ministers arriving for the dialogue are from Europe, including Ukraine Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
• Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who used to be a regular speaker, will not attend this year.
• The speakers’ list serves as a good barometer of India’s relations with various countries.
• The list includes the Foreign Ministers of Bhutan, Nepal, the Maldives, Mauritius’ Foreign Minister, Dhananjay Ramful, Pakistani delegates, and representatives from China’s Fudan University.
• Despite attempts at improving ties with West Asia (GCC) and South East Asia (ASEAN), both regions are not well represented again.
• The Indian version of the Raisina Dialogue, launched in 2016, aims to bring together leaders and thinkers from around the world.
