Water will be released from Bhadra dam

• Release of two tmc ft of water from Bhadra reservoir to allow water flow in Tungabhadra canals.

• The move is an Ugadi gift to farmers and people of Kalyana Karnataka.

• Bhadra reservoir currently has 28 tmc ft of live storage, with 11 tmc ft needed for irrigation until May 8 and 14 tmc ft for drinking water.

• Canals will be used only for drinking water supply from April 6.
