U.S. man arrested on North Sentinel Island
• Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov, a 24-year-old U.S. national, was arrested on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for allegedly entering the North Sentinel Island tribal reserve.
• Polyakov arrived in Port Blair on March 26 and launched his inflatable boat from Kurma Dera beach on March 29.
• He reached North Sentinel Island, left coconut and cola as “offers” for the Sentinelese, and collected sand samples.
• He returned by evening, was spotted by local fishermen, and was arrested.
• The police are gathering more details about Polyakov’s intentions and are questioning the hotel staff where he was staying.
• Polyakov was found with a GoPro camera, which showed him landing on North Sentinel Island.
