The government postpones the credentials ceremony for the new Turkish Ambassador.
• The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) postponed the credentials ceremony of the new Turkish Ambassador to India due to scheduling issues.
• The ceremony was scheduled to take place at Rashtrapati Bhavan, but was postponed due to the protests against Turkiye.
• The postponement came as a surprise, with Turkiye’s Ambassador Ali Murat Ersoy, Bangladesh’s new High Commissioner Riaz Hamidullah, and envoys of Thailand, Costa Rica, St Kitts, and Nevis expected to present their credentials.
• The postponement is not linked to ongoing relations with Turkey, which were impacted after Ankara’s military support to Pakistan.
