    • A roundtable on platform work in India recommended minimum wages, social security, and legal protections for gig and platform workers.

    • A tripartite welfare Board for gig workers was demanded, comprising representatives from employees, employers, and governments.

    • The meeting, organized by Janpahal and the Gig Workers Association, aimed to foster dialogue between stakeholders to ensure gig workers’ rights.

    • Workers expressed concerns about the “harsh realities of work” in the sector, including dictatorial attitudes, lack of redress avenues, and disrespect from society.

    • The meeting also demanded proper sharing of surcharge collected from consumers with workers and urged the Centre to declare a social security policy for online platform workers.
