The Sports Minister has announced the launch of several games under the Khelo India initiative.
• Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announces the expansion of the Khelo India initiative to include school sports, martial arts, beach and water sports.
• The Khelo India Annual Calendar will introduce Khelo India Games and other competitions, including the Khelo India North-East Games.
• The aim is to strengthen India’s sporting ecosystem, boost grassroots competitions, and identify talent.
• The Khelo India platform includes four national-level Games: Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India University Games, Khelo India Para Games, and Khelo India Winter Games.
• The Khelo India School Games (KISG) will follow a tiered structure, starting from district level to State level.
• Events like the Khelo India Martial Art Games, Khelo India Tribal Games, and Khelo India Swadeshi Games aim to bring indigenous and traditional martial arts into the mainstream.
• The first edition of the Khelo India Beach Games (KIBG) is set to take place in Diu from May 19-25.
