    • Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, a special assistant to Yunus, emphasized the need for Yunus to remain in office for the sake of Bangladesh and a peaceful democratic transition.

    • Yunus threatened to resign if political parties did not support him, but other advisers persuaded him not to do so.

    • The resignation comes amid reports of discord between the military and the interim government over the timeline for holding the parliamentary elections and a policy issue related to Bangladesh’s security affairs.
