Arunachal villagers oppose dam security.

• Villagers from Siang, Upper Siang, and West Siang districts launch indefinite sit-in at security forces site for prefeasibility report and survey for proposed 11,000 MW hydroelectric project.

• Villagers are against the dam due to ecological disaster and the river’s ‘Ane’ meaning’mother’ in Adi indigenous language.

• After confronting Central armed police and State police, villagers converge at Beging under the Siang Indigenous Farmers’ Forum (SIFF) to protest against the dam.

• Protesters, mostly women, shout slogans and hold placards.
