    • At least nine containers from the capsized Liberian-flagged cargo vessel MSC Elsa 3 were found on the beaches of Kollam and Alappuzha districts in Kerala.

    • The incident was a Tier 2 maritime event, with the Indian Coast Guard sprayed dispersants to accelerate the biodegradation of the oil slicks.

    • The ship had 643 transhipment containers on the main deck, with 13 containers transporting calcium carbide.

    • The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information warns of more containers washing up on the beaches of Alappuzha, Kollam, Ernakulam, and Thiruvananthapuram districts.

    • The government has urged the public to report the sighting of containers by dialing emergency number 112.

    • The Mercantile Marine Department issued a pollution liability warning to the vessel owners, while T&T Salvage was appointed for container recovery, oil removal, and environmental clean-up.

    • The government has banned fishing activities within a 20-nautical mile radius of the shipwreck location.
