Gulveer wins India’s first gold.

• Gulveer Singh, India’s best track athlete, wins the 10,000m at the Asian Athletics Championships.

• Despite missing automatic qualification for September’s World Championships by 22 micro seconds, Singh’s performance improves his world ranking and chances to qualify for the Worlds.

• He overtakes Bahrain’s Albert Rop and Mebuki Suzuki of Japan for the top spot and his maiden international gold.
