India, EU to hold naval drill

• Indian Navy and EUNAVFOR to hold a joint exercise at sea.

• The exercise will involve ESPS Reina Sofia and ITS Antonio Marceglia from EUNAVFOR, as well as Indian Navy ships and aircraft.

• The aim is to enhance interoperability and enable seamless operations against non-traditional threats like piracy and smuggling in the Indian Ocean Region.

• The visit was a follow-up to discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and EU President Ursula von der Leyen.

• The EUNAVFOR side held discussions on furthering maritime cooperation with the Indian Navy.
