    • The Air India flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on June 12, 2025, is a wake-up call for stringent training and safety standards in India.

    • The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), judiciary, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and all airlines in India have been ignoring the need for such standards.

    • The aviation authorities have been complacency after every major crash, leading to a downward slide in safety and training.

    • The Union Minister of Civil Aviation defends airport safety standards even when there are blatant violations of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

    • The DGCA has defended the safety standards of airports in India, blaming pilots for the accidents.

    • The lack of accountability and inaction has cost hundreds of passengers’ lives.

    • India has one of the weakest judicial systems in aviation safety, with a bench of the Supreme Court of India passing on a case file to the MoCA to check its validity.

    • The loss of over 300 lives in Ahmedabad should shake the people in the system who are in slumber.

Visual Evidence of Ahmedabad Airport Accident

    • Video recordings and images from social media provide the only available information.

    • CCTV footage at Ahmedabad airport has led to speculation about the aircraft’s take-off configuration.

    • The crew used the full length of the runway from the beginning.

    • The initial part of the CCTV footage shows the growth of grass along the runway sides.

    • The Air India plane’s initial take-off acceleration appears normal until lift off.

    • A loud thud is reported about 30 seconds after lift off, possibly due to bird ingestion in the engines.

    • The aircraft’s landing gear extended throughout the climb till the final moments.

    • The DGCA’s statement mentions the names of the pilots and their experience levels.

    • The change of controls and partial loss of thrust could have been overwhelming and may have been a reason for the crew to miss landing gear retraction.

    • Global aviation bodies like the National Transportation Safety Board and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch are part of the crash investigation.

    • The multi-storied building the aircraft crashed into should be investigated.

    • The tragedy should serve as a lesson for authorities in India not to issue no objection certifications for construction activity due to political pressure.
