A nationwide survey indicates deficiencies in student learning
Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development Rashtriya Sarvekshen (PARAKH RS) Results
• PARAKH RS, formerly known as the National Achievement Survey (NAS), reveals the best performing states and Union Territories in school education.
• The survey assessed the performance of 21,15,022 Grade 3, 6, and 9 children from 74,229 schools in 781 districts.
• The top three performing states in Grade 3 were Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Kerala.
• The lowest performing districts were Sahebganj in Jharkhand, Reasi and Rajouri from Jammu and Kashmir, North Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, and South West Garo Hills of Meghalaya.
• The lowest performing districts were Shi Yomi of Arunachal Pradesh, South West Garo Hills, and North Garo Hills of Meghalaya.
• Kendriya Vidyalayas, run by Union Government, recorded the lowest performance in Mathematics in Grade 3.
• In Grade 3, 67% students knew and used enough words to carry out day-to-day interactions effectively.
• In Grade 9, 61% students could explain the process of formation of the Indian Constitution and understand the ideas and ideals of the Indian national movement.
