    • The Supreme Court has requested the Centre to consider the representation of the Nimisha Priya International Action Council, a group fighting for the life of a Malayali nurse awaiting execution in Yemen for murder.

    • The Council is seeking permission to travel to Yemen and negotiate with the victim’s family for pardon and payment of blood money.

    • The execution, originally scheduled for July 16, was postponed due to government efforts and a scholar from Kerala.

    • Attorney-General R. Venkataramani expressed the government’s concern to bring Nimisha Priya home safely.

    • Senior advocate Ragenth Basant suggested a team of government representatives, the Council, and the cleric could travel to Yemen to reach out to the victim’s family.

    • The Attorney-General emphasized that the family should be the only entity involved in such situations and termed the Council as a ‘good Samaritan’.
