    • Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, India’s 14th Vice-President, resigns due to health reasons.

    • The resignation comes on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

    • Dhankhar had suffered a cardiac event in March but has since recovered.

    • He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers and received warm, trustful support from MPs.

    • The move comes as a surprise to many leaders, as he presided over the first half of the Monsoon Session and presided over the Business Advisory Committee meeting.
