Sikkim’s Doklam to Open for Tourists Eight Years After Stand-off with China
• Doklam, a plateau in the Chumbi Valley, is set to open for tourists eight years after a stand-off with China.
• Located 68 km east of Gangtok, Doklam is a tri-junction of Bhutan, China, and India.
• China halted construction activities at Doklam after over two months of a controlled stand-off.
• The Defence Ministry identified three sites for battlefield tourism in Sikkim: Nathu La and Cho La.
• The other two sites are already tourist spots, with construction of cafeterias, restrooms, wayside amenities, and parking spaces at Cho La and Doklam.
