    • Divya Deshmukh, a 19-year-old Indian chess player, won the women’s World Cup in Batumi, Georgia.

    • She defeated Koneru Humpy in the tiebreakers, becoming India’s 88th Grandmaster.

    • Divya’s victory also marks her fourth Indian woman to win the coveted title, following Humpy, D. Harika, and R. Vaishali.

    • The Indian women’s performance at the World Cup exceeded expectations, with four reaching the quarterfinals.

    • Divya and Humpy also secured tickets for the Candidates tournament, the qualifying event for the World championship.

    • D. Gukesh, the youngest World champion in history, won the open event in Toronto.
