  • Christian Michel James’ Plea for Release in AgustaWestland VVIP Chopper Case
Posted on August 7th, 2025 in Exam Details (QP Included)

    • Christian Michel James, the alleged middleman in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal case, has expressed his fear of leaving Delhi.

    • James, who was granted bail in the CBI case by the Supreme Court on February 18, has not yet furnished bail bonds and is in Tihar jail.

    • He has offered another court to “finish his sentence” and leave India instead of walking out on bail due to “security risk.”

    • James argues that the court did nothing about the man who attempted to kill him and that he is being treated like a convict.

    • He argues that bail will also be an interim release, and the trial will continue.

    • His counsel suggests that the British High Commission should provide temporary accommodation for him.

    • The ED and CBI oppose James’ plea that he is entitled to be released under Section 436A of the CrPC.

    • James was extradited from Dubai in December 2018 and arrested by the CBI and the ED.
