    • India’s Ramesh Budihal secures the bronze medal in the Open men’s category at the Asian Surfing Championships in Mamallapuram.

    • This is India’s first-ever individual medal in the competition’s history.

    • Budihal scored 12.60 points in the final, finishing behind South Korea’s Kanoa Heejae (15.17) and Indonesia’s Pajar Ariyana (14.57).

    • Budihal started strong, catching the opening wave of the heat and scoring a 6.17.

    • He maintained his balance in the dying moments of the heat to finish with his highest score of 6.43, securing bronze.

    • Budihal’s victory contributes significantly to India’s goal to earn additional quotas for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
