Bombay High Court Rejects Bail Plea of Babu Abdul Ruf Sardar

• Babu Abdul Ruf Sardar, accused of illegally entering India from Bangladesh and obtaining forged Indian identity documents, was rejected by the Bombay High Court.

• The court cited national security concerns, ongoing investigation, and the risk of absconding.

• Justice Amit Borkar stated that documents like Aadhaar card, PAN card, or voter ID do not automatically make someone a citizen of India.

• Sardar faces charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and offences under the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1950, and the Foreigners Order, 1948.

• The court concluded that releasing Sardar at this stage would be “neither proper nor prudent.”

• The court allowed Sardar to renew his bail request if the trial is not completed within one year.
