Educate Girls Wins Ramon Magsaysay Award

• Educate Girls, an Indian non-profit organization, has been named one of the three winners of the Ramon Magsaysay Award, 2025.

• The award recognizes Educate Girls’ work in addressing gender injustice in education in India’s rural and remote areas.

• The organization started in Rajasthan, identifying the neediest communities for girls’ education and working to keep them there until they could acquire credentials for higher education and employment.

• Safeena Husain, founder of Educate Girls, praised the recognition for reshaping entire communities and challenging traditions.

• Gayatri Nair Lobo, CEO of Educate Girls, praised the award as “historic and humbling.”

• The award, started in 1958, celebrates “greatness of spirit and transformative leadership in Asia.”
