India’s Neutral Stand on Nepal’s Strife
• India is closely monitoring the situation in Nepal following Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli’s resignation.
• The country is aiming to adopt a neutral stance, not supporting any side in the “Gen-Z” uprising.
• The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has called for a dialogue and restraint in the protest.
• The MEA is not convinced that the protest was organized by “Gen-Z” alone, and that several senior individuals were also involved.
• The protests began after the government banned popular social media platforms among Nepal’s youth.
• The MEA advises Indians to defer travel to Nepal and follow local safety advisories from Nepal authorities and the Embassy of India.
• Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has visited Nepal and is expected to visit India later this month.
India’s diplomatic stance is important topic for Civil service exam (WBCS).
