Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Council Election Results

• Over 72% of 26.58 lakh voters in Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Region cast their votes for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).

• The BTC governs the BTR, comprising five districts bordering Bhutan.

• Main contenders for the 40 constituencies of the BTC are the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), its ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and their rival, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).

• Pramod Boro, the chief of the BTC and president of the UPPL, cast his vote early in the morning.

• Hagrama Mohilary, the BPF president, expressed confidence in his party’s return to power.

• A total of 316 candidates are contesting the election.
