Amit Shah hails ethanol blending programme as a game changer for sugar cooperatives

• Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a cooperative compressed biogas plant in Kopargaon and addressed a rally in Ahilyanagar.

• He praised the ethanol blending programme for enhancing the financial health of India’s sugar cooperatives and promoting rural prosperity.

• Shah assured Maharashtra of Central support for farmers affected by recent floods and noted that the number of sugar mills and production have significantly increased under Prime Minister Modi’s administration.

• He urged sugar cooperatives to adopt multi-feed ethanol production to ensure year-round productivity and highlighted that financing for these conversions would prioritize cooperatives.

• He provided details on the damage caused by recent heavy rains, affecting over 60 lakh hectares of agricultural land, and assured prompt action from the Centre post-report submission.

• Immediate relief measures for farmers included cash assistance, food grains, loan recovery suspensions, and waivers on land tax and school fees.

• Shah acknowledged contributions from National Democratic Alliance MLAs to the relief fund, demonstrating their support for the farming community.
