Mlaba, Brits, and Luus shine as South Africa beats New Zealand

• South Africa achieved a commanding six-wicket victory against New Zealand in a Women’s ODI World Cup league match.

• Tazmin Brits scored 101 runs off 89 balls, and Sune Luus remained not out with 83 runs, leading the team’s successful chase of 232 runs.

• Despite losing captain Laura Wolvaardt early in the innings, Brits and Luus continued to dominate the match, finishing almost 10 overs ahead of schedule.

• This win significantly improved South Africa’s Net Run Rate from -3.733 to -1.402.

• Brits is the third South African to score a century in ODI World Cup matches and the fastest to seven hundreds in ODIs, achieving it in 41 innings.

• New Zealand struggled early in their innings, losing Suzie Bates on the first ball and managing only 38 runs in the PowerPlay.

• Sophie Devine top-scored for New Zealand with 85 runs, but the team collapsed, losing seven wickets for just 44 runs.

• The final scores were New Zealand 231 in 47.5 overs and South Africa 234/4 in 40.5 overs.
