Fresh Ponzi Scheme in Bengal’s Asansol

• A fresh chit fund scam has surfaced in Asansol, Bengal, allegedly involving a son of the ruling party’s minority wing leader, Shakeel Ahmed.

• The scam has reportedly benefited 3,000 families, with ₹350 crore amassed through a fake, unlicensed company.

• Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari alleges that the Trinamool Congress leaders and the corrupt administration provided full cover to the accused.

• Adhikari demands the arrest of the accused, return of investor’s money, and investigation by SEBI-ED.

• Trinamool Congress leader V. Sivadasan (Dasu) claims the scam has nothing to do with the party and the father of the accused was associated with it till 2023.

• Tahsin has released an apology video to depositors, stating he has not been able to return the money.
