A dispute arises as the Centre suggests Punjab release 4,500 cusecs of water to Haryana for eight days.

• Union government advises Punjab to execute Bhakra Beas Management Board’s (BBMB) decision to release extra 4,500 cusecs of water from Bhakra dam for Haryana and parts of Rajasthan.

• Meeting held in New Delhi to discuss implementation of BBMB’s decision.

• All-party meeting held in Punjab, with leaders from ruling AAP, Opposition Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP, BSP, CPI, and CPI(M) supporting the government.

• Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann plans to convene a special session of the Punjab Assembly on May 5 to condemn the Union government and BBMB.

• Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Chaudhary argues Punjab’s assertion that Haryana had exhausted its water quota in March is incorrect.

• If the matter is not resolved, the government will go to the Supreme Court.
