Academic gets interim bail, SC probes posters

• The Supreme Court granted interim bail to Mahmudabad, but refused to halt the investigation against him for his social media posts on the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and war-related sufferings.

• The interim bail was given to “facilitate” the investigation, and the Haryana Director-General of Police was directed to form a Special Investigation Team within 24 hours.

• The court deemed Mahmudabad’s language in the posts to have a “dual meaning” and ordered the SIT to examine it.

• Mahmudabad was ordered to cooperate fully with the investigation and refrain from speaking about the posts.
